Description

The City of San Luis seeks an Assistant Director of Development Services to support strategic growth in a rapidly expanding border community. Reporting to senior leadership, this role helps oversee planning, permitting, inspections, and capital projects that shape local infrastructure and quality of life. The Assistant Director coordinates with public works, utilities, and community development, manages budgets and schedules, and guides staff in delivering responsive, high-quality services. The role collaborates with residents, businesses, and developers, upholding integrity, accountability, and a strong community-service focus while improving processes and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Assist in leading development services, including planning, permitting, and inspections
Support preparation and management of division budgets and capital improvement plans
Oversee and mentor staff, ensuring high-quality, timely public service
Coordinate development projects across public works, utilities, and community development
Review and recommend improvements to development policies, codes, and processes
Engage with residents, businesses, and developers to address service needs and project issues
Monitor project performance, prepare reports, and present updates to leadership
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in development activities
