Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050 by providing housing, health and wealth-building services to our neighbors who are experiencing, or at imminent risk of, homelessness.

We operate over 60 programs located in New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester County—including emergency shelters, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing—VOA-Greater New York helps improve the lives of more than 30,000 adults and children annually. We are also the largest provider of residential services for veterans within a coalition that has virtually ended chronic homelessness for veterans in New York City.

VOA-Greater New York provides:
• A safe haven to families escaping domestic violence
• Temporary shelter and permanent housing to individuals and families experiencing homelessness
• A continuum of care to veterans struggling to find their footing
• Supportive housing to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, adults with behavioral health issues or a history
of substance use, and older adults with limited incomes
• Support and guidance to at-risk youth as they prepare for the transition out of foster care
• Education and therapeutic services to preschool children with developmental delays and disabilities in
the Bronx

Company History

VOA-Greater New York is a faith-based organization with a rich 125-year history of serving our neighbors in need. We are the local affiliate of the national nonprofit, Volunteers of America, Inc. (VOA), which was founded in New York City in 1896.

The VOA network includes more than 16,000 full-time professionals nationwide who empower 1.5 million people annually through 30 affiliates in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. VOA is one of the nation’s most comprehensive nonprofit human services organizations.
