Development Manager

The Church of St. Luke in the Fields is a vibrant, inclusive Episcopal parish located in the heart
of Greenwich Village. We are a historic parish with a long history of social outreach and
engagement, and our campus is comprised of the parish church and offices, St Luke’s School,
two gardens, and historic residences.

St. Luke’s current social outreach initiatives currently include The GO Project, an academic
enrichment program for early learners, In Our Fields, a mobile feeding initiative, the Community
Closet clothing pantry ministry, and Art & Acceptance, a Saturday evening drop-in program for
LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness.

St. Luke’s seeks an experienced development professional to support our larger mission through
grant-writing, donor cultivation, and cross-block/external partner relationship management. This
individual will also work collaboratively to support broader parish interests, including but not
limited to the annual Stewardship Campaign and St. Luke’s Music and Arts program. This
position will also provide high-level logistical support to, and work closely with, the current
Outreach Program Manager (part-time).

The Development Manager will:

major gifts, planned gifts, and grants for nonsectarian programs including Outreach and Music

• With Director of Communications, develop an evergreen calendar of seasonal virtual giving
appeals

• Work with lay leaders to identify major donors and implement a major gift and bequest
program

• Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and the Parish Administrator to
ensure timely gift acknowledgement and other responsibilities supportive of the development
program

• Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications to develop and regularly update
creative printed and online materials in support of giving and stewardship goals

• Work with the volunteer stewardship committee to manage the annual Stewardship Campaign,
with the goal of engaging all members in giving of treasure, time, and talent

• Assist in transition from our records in the Raiser’s Edge database to our new database
(anticipated)

• Work collaboratively with the business office to streamline and enhance recording of gifts and
produce regular reports for use by finance committee and vestry

• Cultivate relationships among the parishioners, the school, and community partners in order to
develop opportunities to give of time or treasure, and be a meaningful presence in the life of our
church community

• Recruit and track all in-kind donations

• Develop Outreach program budgets and monitor expenses in consultation with the Senior
Associate

• Maintain important documents in the New York State Grants Gateway and New York City
HHS Accelerator systems

• Lend fundraising expertise across all areas of the church, including the annual Stewardship
Campaign, Music and Arts, the Garden, and future initiatives

• Work collaboratively across all departments, supporting clergy and staff, preparing
presentations, reports, and correspondence

• Assist Outreach programming through very occasional logistical support, such a volunteer
coordination, ordering supplies, or filling in to help oversee programming in case of staff
absence (rare)

Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of 3 years’ experience in development; familiarity with
Raiser’s Edge preferred, ability to work some nights and weekends; strong writing and
